Pastor Cheryl Larsen Lawing has been a pastor within the ELCA for 35 years. All of her places of service have been within New England: in Willimantic, CT; Falmouth, MA; and Pawtucket, RI. Prior to her call to ministry, Pastor Cheryl taught music at the Children’s Home of Cromwell and Covenant Village/Pilgrim Manor and worked as youth pastor at Bethany Covenant Church in New Britain, CT. This part of Connecticut is familiar territory.
Pastor Cheryl became the permanent Pastor at Bethany Lutheran Church in January, 2026. She has also completed the New England Synod’s training for Intentional Interim Ministry. Additionally, Pastor is a member of the International Coaching Federation and is in process of becoming a PQ Coach. She is honored to serve Bethany with her gifts and training at this important juncture in the church’s life and ministry.
Married to Andy Lawing since 1990, together they share four adult children and three grandchildren. They also share a love of UCONN Women’s Basketball, Chicago Cubs and Boston Red Sox games, and delight in watching movies, listening to music, and taking walks together. They currently live in North Attleboro, MA.

Tyler A. Boyle

Director of Music
Tyler A. Boyle serves as the K–12 Fine Arts Supervisor for the Berlin Public School District and as Director of Choral Music & Theatre at Berlin High School. Prior to joining the Berlin faculty, Mr. Boyle taught K–4 classroom music and Grade 4 Chorus at Lake Garda Elementary School in Burlington, Connecticut.
An active liturgical musician, Mr. Boyle serves as Director of Music at Bethany Lutheran Church. He previously served as Director of Music at First Lutheran Church of Southington, Connecticut; Music Director at Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd in Hamden, Connecticut; and Assistant Organist & Cantor of Music at Our Lady of the Snow Roman Catholic Church in Blue Point, New York. He has also served as a summer-term Assistant Organist at the Co-Cathedral of St. Thomas More and Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Tallahassee, Florida.
Mr. Boyle holds a Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Music Education from The Hartt School at the University of Hartford, a Master of Music Education degree from the Florida State University College of Music, and an Intermediate Administrative Certificate and Sixth-Year Degree in Social-Emotional & Academic Learning for Social Justice Leadership from Sacred Heart University.

Robin is the Office Manager at Bethany Lutheran Church and also the Registrar for Bethany Lutheran Preschool. She has been employed at Bethany since November, 1993.
She is married and has two grown daughters, a son-in-law, three granddaughters and a grandson. Her interests include: cooking, baking, crafts, and spending time with her family and friends.
President
Christine has been a member at Bethany Lutheran Church for over 25 years. She taught Sunday school for many years as her children grew up in the church. She headed up Bethany’s Youth Group activities for several years, including taking our group to an ELCA Youth Gathering in New Orleans, LA with over 30,000 other Young Lutherans! Christine is retired from being a programmer at ADP for 35 years. She has served on several committees over the years at Bethany, including being on Council for a total of 8 years. She is delighted to currently be serving as President.
